Ok – so I thought we could have a fun poll. On Monday, August 2, I’m going in to have an ultrasound which will tell us if we’re having a girl or a boy. I know, I know, many of you have said I should wait to be surprised on the day of the birth. And I thought about that (for about 5 seconds) and decided NO WAY! ;) I’m a planner. And I’m no good at waiting, and no good at surprises for that matter. (Sorry mom and dad, I peaked at my Christmas presents every year from about 3-8th grade!)

So….what do you think I’m having? Of course we know that the great Creator has already decided, but c’mon, give it a guess! For those who believe in any of the myths or wives-tale ways of predicting, here are a few facts:

Heartbeat has been averaging around 160.
I had pretty severe morning sickness.
I started showing VERY quickly.
I’ve craved sweet more than salty, but truthfully I’ve craved a bit of both.
I’ve REALLY craved orange juice.

Here we go.

Pink Or Blue?

What’s my daughters favorite song from mommy’s new album? Jordin Sparks sang a duet with me on this years Dove Awards. But I think these girlies will be sharing the stage with their mommy soon enough!

I know you’ve only heard 3 cuts. But what’s your favorite so far?

A dear friend, Nancy Alcorn, brought this desperate need to my attention. After seeing this disturbing piece on CNN, Nancy reached out to her friends and asked us, in turn, to reach out to our friends. So, I’m reaching out to you.

You may or may not be aware, but there is an Iranian woman who is a mother of two, that could be stoned to death at any moment under the terms of a death sentence handed down by Iranian authorities.

The woman was convicted of adultery. She claims she is innocent. Regardless, I think it is imperative that we use our voices to put a stop to this brutal and savage method of punishment. Iranian law states that there must be atleast 4 witnesses for an adulterer to receive a stoning sentence, but in this case there were NO witnesses. This woman could be taken from her son and daughter at any moment. How? Being buried up to her chest and having rocks thrown at her face and head. The stones hurled at her that will be large enough to cause great pain, but not so large as to kill her immediately. This injustice must end. A few in Iran, including the woman’s children, have started a very broad, international public movement. They say that’s the only thing that can help. I’d like to think they are starting a love revolution. I say we answer with a Love revolution of our own.

Proverbs charges us to speak up for those who have no voice. This woman is virtually voiceless. Jesus said, “let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone.” (John 8:7)

This situation demands an answer. Will we stand up and rise to the question? What if this was your mother? Sister? Or daughter?

Should we pray? YES. We must pray. But what if we could do more? Let’s add intent and action to our prayers. May we do what is within our power. You are more powerful than you know. Follow the link below to see sample letters to send. http://missionfreeiran.wordpress.com/2010/06/26/sakine-children/ . You can just cut and paste, then sign your name.

Do these 2 things:
1) Please send the sample letters adjusted per your preferences to the targeted recipients
2) Please send the children’s letter to your local newspaper with an explanation of why we need to support these children and take a stand against brutal execution in Iran.

If each of us does our possible, God can do the impossible.

Let’s put our faith to action and be the voice of Love. It just may start a revolution.

Welcome! I hope you like the re-design. Thank you to Brody and my SkörInc family for their hard work and creativity.

I’m so excited about the new project. While I love my job and the gift it is to be able to make music, this is more than just music to me. It’s really more about a movement. My prayer is that the music will compel the you to live the love of the gospel out loud. My prayer is that we return to the simplicity of the message. Jesus said, “Love me. Love others. And think about others more than you think about yourself.”

I know I’ve complicated it a long the way. And I know I’ve gotten in the way. My dreams, my plans, my agendas, my hopes….somehow they would always make their way to center stage. But I’m ready to revolutionize that part of my life. Are you? I’m ready to love out loud. I’m daring to be more than what this culture tells me. I’m daring to be all that God’s made me. Are you? The Bible in Colossians 3:12 says to clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. You want to be a trend-setting fashion statement? Start being kind for no reason. Show compassion. Be patient. I promise you people will notice. And it just might be contagious.  Don’t wait for a love revolution. BE the love revolution. It’s not about religion. It’s about relationship. The kind of relationship that changes everything.

I thought for the start of the Love Revolution campaign, I would do something, well, revolutionary. So I’ve partnered with a team of other artists and authors and people just like you as a part of the 31 Days of Freedom Campaign. July is the month that we celebrate our Declaration Of Independence. But there are many around the world, many in this very country who are not free. Slavery still exists. The most innocent among us are being ravaged in the most horrific of ways through the realities of human trafficking. But one by one, we can stand for their freedom. Being a revolutionary can stem from the simplest of acts. This is what I’ve decided to do. For the month of July, my family is giving up movies. No theaters. No redbox. No Comcast On-Demand. And everything we would have spent on movies every week, we’re donating to the building of domestic, faith-based shelters for victims of human trafficking. It may seem small. But EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS. So as we get ready to celebrate our country’s freedom, let’s remember those who are not free. Would you join me? What will you give up? http://www.thehomefoundation.net/31days/

Love God. Love people. That’s it.

Today’s your day. Start a love revolution.

So, if you’ve been following my world via twitter, you know that I’ve been working on a new project for quite some time! I’m so excited that tomorrow morning, for the first time anywhere, KLOVE will be playing my new single, “Greatness Of Our God.” The single goes for adds at Christian radio on April 9, but KLOVE is giving everyone a sneak peak ;) The other news that I am so excited to share is that Greatness Of Our God will be available for download TOMORROW as well. woohoo! I’m so excited that you will finally be able to hear some new music. The song is from my new album, Love Revolution, due out late summer.

I love one of the definitions I read for the word ‘revolution‘ that said “a sudden, complete or marked change of something.” Before we can see true, marked and complete change of our culture, our families, our schools and communities, we must first have a revolution of our own hearts. “Greatness Of Our God,” written by Reuben Morgan, Jason Ingram and Stu Garrard, stirred up a revolution in my heart the very first time i heard it. While I like to write most of the songs I record, I didn’t feel like i was recording someone else’s spiritual experience. I feel like this song is everyone’s experience. God is greater than every circumstance, every problem, every disappointment. And there is NOTHING that can separate us from His love. I so easily get distracted by the little details of life. I have to readjust my perspective. While my mind cannot begin to truly comprehend the greatness of God, neither can any of my doubts restrain His greatness. I’m so grateful that in these strange and scary times – from political unrest, economic struggles, natural disasters or personal catastrophes, God is in control. And though I don’t need to get bogged down with the details of life, I am so glad I serve a God who in interested and involved in every detail.

No sky contains
No doubt restrains
All You are, the greatness of our God
I’ll spend my life to know
And I’m far from close to all You are
The greatness of our God

So give me eyes to see more of who You are…..

Hope you enjoy the song. Let me know what you think about it.

I was driving to the airport this morning & saw a group of “workers” picking up trash on the side of the road. Each one was wearing an orange vest with these words emblazoned on the back:

“I AM A DRUNK DRIVER.”

Wow. Most hung their head low, hoping not to make any eye contact with the drivers passing by. There it was, in big capital letters for all the world to see.

Now listen, I’m not about to defend anyone who drinks and drives. They absolutely deserve to be punished by the law. Drinking & Driving has robbed many families of a mom, a dad, a spouse, a son, a daughter. Wearing an orange vest seems a little lenient if you ask me.

But, seeing their shame printed across their backs made me wonder what my vest would say. Can you imagine having to walk around with your sins being announced to the world? My secrets alone would be too many to even fit on one vest.

Many of us walk around wearing a similar vest. No, our mistakes and sins are not printed on the back, but the weight of our guilt hunches us over and we walk with a defeated posture. We avoid making eye contact and light & joy are missing from our face. We’re dressed in shame.

Today I’m shedding that vest. See, I have another vest and it’s just my size. This same vest fits anyone, regardless of who you are. The words emblazoned on the back say:

“I AM FORGIVEN.”

Let that vest show today. Wear your forgiveness. May grace and peace so permeate our own lives, that it can’t help but spill out to everyone around us. This vest is always in fashion, never out of style, and always the perfect fit. :)

“But those who depend on faith, not on deeds, and who believe in the God who declares the GUILTY TO BE INNOCENT, it is this faith that God takes in to account to put them right with Himself.” Romans 4:5

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

You. Are. Forgiven. Act like it.

With love AND freedom :)
