Make It Matter Tour

make_it_matter

Well, the make it matter tour has come to an end. we had such a blast! i don’t know if you had a chance to see it or not, but i feel like it was a great success. here’s a little recap:
I made 2 new friends – Chris Sligh and Meredith Andrews. Chris is a hilarious human being. I love witty people with a dry sense of humor and he is all that and then some. Granted, he’s got a serious addiction to Dr Pepper, but that just makes me love him all the more! his talent is pretty obvious, but I was pleasantly shocked by his amazing knowledge of music. I mean, all types of music. I would never beat him in name that tune. He would be the all-time champ, for sure.

Meredith is an itty-bitty, with a huge voice and even bigger heart. I knew within 5 seconds of meeting her that we would be friends. I LOVE her voice but it’s her genuine love for Christ and her desire to serve people that is most contagious about her. She’s got all the goods to be around for a long time and we’ll all be better for it.
Of-course we had an amazing crew led by Chris Farnsworth. He really is awesome at what he does and every artist-type needs a Chris Farnsworth in their life :-) and the concert experience wouldn’t be much without my awesome band. We really are a family and it makes all the difference in the world.

Speaking of making a difference in the world, the most exciting thing for me was the response of all of you to the Home Foundation. We raised thousands of dollars, joined hands with hundreds of monthly partners and sold tons of tote bags that were hand-made by rescued victims. Because of your generosity, we will see faith-based shelters in the united states, offering a place of hope and freedom to many. I can’t thank you enough.

I pray we motivated thousands of people to make a difference in their world. Remember, it’s not always about going across the world. It’s most often just about going across the street. We only have one life to live. Make it matter. Love on somebody today.

You have a song that I had heard many times on the radio before but had never truly listened to the words like I had with some other songs that I have listened to. I had always thought it was a really beautiful song but never really took it to heart. Then this past summer, in July 2008, my one and only daughter got sick with E-coli 0157:H7. What started off on July 1st as a simple case of diarrhea ended up taking her life and my husband and I had to make the hardest decision of our lives and decided to take her off of life support on July 16th. As anyone can imagine, but espsecially a parent, and a mom, this decision permanently changed the course of my life. She was 8 1/2 years old when she passed away.

I am a born-again believer and I know that God has a plan, but in my own human selfishness, I just do not understand and I just wish she was here.

Approximately two months after her death, my cousin sent me your CD “Awaken.” I have a lot of Contemporary Christian CDs but for some reason I did not have this in particular one. She also sent me a card with a personalized not inside and here is part of what she said, “…I’ve been wanting to send you this card and CD since we spoke. There is a song on this CD that is very comforting and beautiful to listen to and I thought maybe you would like it. I know everytime I lsten to it I ball like a baby, but I always seem to feel better afterwards.” The song is “Held.”

We were staying with my husband’s mom and dad at the time and so I immediately put the song in the CD play and my mother-in-law and I sat listening to the song. I can honestly say it struck me right to the heart. I could not finish listening to it because it hit so close to home.

Then about a month ago my very best friend was over and I played for her the song. Again, I had to stop it. The words of that song are so strong, so powerful. That day I did listen to the entire song. It amazes me sometimes how a song can do that to a person. If I had know about this song I would have had it sung at my daughter funeral just as I had had sung Casting Crowns song “Praise You in the Storm” as it had the same effect on us.

Today I listened to the whole song and decided to come to your website and see if I could write you a message to let you know how very special you are and the song that was brought into my life through one of the biggest and worst tragedies of my life. Thank you for you words and beatiful voice that sings to the depths of my soul every time I hear this song.
