Mercy Me

I had an awesome opportunity to go hang out with some of the girls at Mercy Ministries here in Nashville last week. I love this ministry. Nancy Alcorn is so amazing with what she has done for young girls all around the world. I love how God takes the ordinary and does the extraodinary.

Congrats to the recent graduates of the program. I’m so proud of you girls!!!

Mercy has a really cool opportunity coming up for you to be involved in. This year there is a team running in the Country Music Marathon here in Nashville. It’s called “Run For Mercy”. Visit www.runformercy.com to learn more about how you run (or walk) for mercy.

To be consistent in sending the message to these girls that they are made new in Christ, that who they were is gone when they come to Christ, is so important. That Christ has changed them, and is making them like Him every day, is a message that gives them a hope that they so desperately need and want to hear. I know God can take the ordinary and do the extraordinary because that is what He is doing in my life every day. Each of us are privileged to see God do that very thing every day when we belong to Him.

    Hi Natalie,
I know you must know how much you inspire teenage girls, but I would like to share my story with you. When I got the issue of Brio with the article about human trafficking in it I felt physically ill. I couldn’t believe that something like that could happen!!! It’s a gift that god gave me, the fact that I can feel for others, but sometimes it really seems like a burden, especially when I see what I have, then what others don’t have, then I feel helpless. When Iwent to revolve in the fall I saw you and Austin Gutwein, and now I feel that I TRULY can do something. I’m trying to set up a Hoops of Hope event at my church. I feel like I can DO something now. Sometimes I’ll tell people “I’m going to change the world,” (not those exact words, but you get what I mean.). most of the time they just snort and say, “Yeah right, it’s not possible,” but then I tell them that it is, one person CAN change the world with some help from on High. Even though the sadness in the world just feels overwhelming sometimes I’ve learned to let God take away that feeling.

Thanks once again for being a role model to teen girls! You are one of my heroes for that. Sometimes teens like me just need to see somebody famous actually do what right for once, be a role model. Thanks for doing that.

    Peace, Elizabeth

    Natalie,

Oh. My. Word. I got home just a bit ago from your concert at Kingsway in Avon. I had the joy of taking my 11 and 10 year old daughters with me. My husband graciously stayed home with our 3 boys. :) My daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. I have been to many concerts in my life and this is one of the most worshipful ones that I have been to. I feel so blessed to have been a part of this evening. Meredith Andrews was amazing. It is very evident that her heart is dedicated to serving the Lord. Chris Sligh has a wonderful voice and once again a heart for the Lord. And you. A good 8ish years ago when “Stronger” came out you went to Heaven and Earth bookstores in Virginia Beach and actually met my sister who worked their at the time. Both Jenn and I were in complete awe at your voice. As I have followed you over the years, it’s not just your voice that draws me in, but your “realness”. Tonight you were talking about living real in front of your daughters—that too is my prayer. I want my kids to see Jesus in me. And not just on Sundays, but at the grocery store, while I’m driving, or when they just plain are driving me nuts!!!

Thank you Natalie for your ministry and your compassion for those around you.

Hey girl…my heart hurts for those girls, but I want to tell you how incredible it is for you to visit them. I was at a live-in facility for 9 months. Dealing with the memories and pain was so hard…your songs give us hope, and help us to say ‘so long’ to our old selves. My favorite song you sing is “Safe”. Some days I put it on repeat for hours.

    “I’m not gonna hide
    I’m not gonna run away
    I’ll uncover the scars
    And show you every mistake
Your love is mending my blisters
    And my bruising shame
    Here with you
    I am safe
    I am safe
    I am safe
    I am safe”

Love it girl, love you, love your music, your voice and your ministry!

    Dear Natalie,

I just finished up a year of being a Resident Assistant in my dorm at a Christian College I go to. I loved it and dealt with so many heavy things Christian girls are dealing with. I have laid on my hear that I wanted to do more like this. The other day I was thinking about how I could get involved. I didn’t even know where to start or what to look for but I just knew that I wanted to be a part of some ministry that helped young girls and all that they deal with. As I was thinking about this, your song “What Are You Waiting For” came on on my iPod so I decided to look on your page and see if there was any place that you supported that I could look into. I came to your page to find Mercy Ministries and after looking into it, I have decided that I am going to apply to work for them. I have a semester left of college and would love nothing more than to go work for Mercy Ministries after that. Thanks for your influence on so many!
