Have you ever cut your own hair? My bangs were constantly in my eyes and driving me INSANE! So, I’m in St Louis for Women of Faith and I decided to give myself a trim in the dressing room bathroom. It turned out pretty good, actually. Considering the scissors were eyebrow scissors. (Tiff, we must talk about why you have eyebrow scissors!) Anyway, now I’m thinking my layers could use a little trim. Uh, oh, I’m moving past the bangs! Put down the scissors, Natalie!!! Have you ever had a hair debacle?
My worst hair moment of all time was in the fifth grade when my sister Allison gave me a perm. My hair looked like a bunch of cauliflower. Then there was my new-wave phase with one side short and the other side long. Oh yes, that is a true story. Thank God for hats. When you see me wearing one, there is a bad hair day being hid underneath.
Cheers to a good hair day!
Nat

Hey…I have had many bad haircuts! However, I did not post to say that. I posted to say that I use scissors on my eyebrows (haha). My eyebrows are so unruly and bushy. They are terrible, and they get out of hand. The easiest thing to make them more tame without buying an electric razor (which is great for eyebrows) is to use little scissors. Now, I don’t have a legit pair of eyebrow scissors, but I make due with little scissors I found in a nail kit. I’m practical too.(…the straighting iron for an iron is an awesome idea for travel!).
Anyways, Thanks Natalie…you/your music has lead me closer to God in many ways.
That is so hilarious…along with the horrible perms (not from my sister but from a pro and just as disasterous)I had the short on one side and long on the other haircut and any time I ever describe it I have gotten funny and confused looks!! Good to know FINALLY someone else made that horrid mistake!! Thank you Lord that hair grows back! I was at your show in Houston last night and IT WAS FABULOUS and my four year old thought you were amazing! She was fascinated! Thank you and God bless!
I should have known better…I was a Junior in High School. I thought I could get a really good – straight cut if I held down my bangs with my left hand while I cut with my right…failing to take into account the fluff and puff factor of my thick hair. Needless to say…I got a straight cut…but was horrified when I let go and saw I had cut them to about 1 inch long…wet. Unfortunately there were many yearbook photos that week…painful reminders. Good times….
ok doing your own hair is wa-a-a-y cool. but with eyebrow scissors?!?!?! thats just crazy! but you’re the one person who can pull it off!!!:)
Hey Natilie! Your my favorite singer EVER! I love the song “Perfect People” and ur sooooo cool! I wish you went to Soul Fest and preformed because I am going! Anyway, you are so cool I wish I could meet you! I am 10 years old and my name is Kelsey. YOU ARE MY FAVORITE SINGER EVER!!!
Okay, my worst hair moment was also in fifth grade. I have naturally curly hair that gets looser as it gets longer (b/c it’s so thick). At this point my hair was down my back and my mom decided that I’d look great with a perm. It was horrible. I looked like a french poodle (she had them perm my bangs too!). It was then that I became friends with ballcaps.
I acutally have my moms talent and I cut my own hair! My bangs and all! My bangs constantly seem to get really long so I have to snip them. I love your bangs!
you are so funny natile ,i cut my own bangs and i got it to short ,my mom got mad , now she cut my bangs . you rock
natile ,good job on our cd . every time i hear your songs on the radio i sing aloug .lol , and you are in my top 18 on myspace .thanks .
I actually got onto the site today to find a picture of you to take to my hair stylist, so I can “copy” your haircut…only to happen upon your “tutorial.”
Instead of toting a picture into my stylist, I’ll just show her the video. Maybe I should suggest that she use eyebrow scissors to get.it.just.right.
Wow Natalie I’ll admit You did a good job of a haircut however keep a backup pair of shears in case you need to cut your hair again give Isabella and Grace a big hey and keep up the good work. God Bless
That is hysterical. When I was about 6 I cut my bangs with pinking shears…just a big chunk out of the middle. Needlesstosay, they didn’t turn out near as good as yours! I must listen to Relentless at least once a day! I love your stuff. Keep up the good work and God bless you as you travel and minister!
This is great, Natalie! I actually just saw you in St. Louis at Women of Faith and your bangs looked great!
Can I just say that you are my favorite artist! I love your genuine heart and everytime I get to hear you (Revolve, Women of Faith) you continue to blow me away with your stories and your AMAZING voice!
One of my favorite things about Women of Faith was getting to watch all of the artists and speakers worship with us! One can really tell the genuiness of a person when they are off stage and I really got a great glimpse of who you are off stage as well! I’m not putting you on a pedastle, because I know we cannot achieve perfection but just know that I admire you.
One more thing…during Nicole C. Mullen’s concert on Saturday I had the joy of only being a few feet away from the stage and you and Sandi were holding your beautiful twins. It was so neat to watch you be a mommy too! I’m praying for you as I know it must be difficult to travel and be mommy on the road as well. But I know you are doing an amazing job!! There are so many that need to hear your stories and songs, so thankyou for the sacrifices you make to let that happen!
I love you, Natalie and would love to meet you in person, but if I don’t here on earth, I will in heaven!
Video’s Hilarious! U did great…made it look very easy! Where there’s a will there’s a way eh Nat~~hehe
Never got a hold to my own hair, but my daughter cut a huge wedge from her bangs when she was 3…I mean to the scalp! It was crazy growin back, stuck straight up…hahahahaha. I can still remember her lil face. She has some kinda fetish with her bangs bc a few years ago (9 yrs old then) she took the razor to her widow’s peak ~~is she tryin to tell me something or what?!! That was even sillier growin out…u could imagine!! I will have to show her your skills with the eyebrow scissors…maybe she can avoid any further bang dilemas~lol!
hey Natalie,
I just met you in St. Louis, and I thought your bangs were good…nice work! haha…the video was great! My worst hair moment would have to have been the whole feathered bangs look my mom always made me have in elementary…it was not a good look.
It was so great to see you again at WOF. You were awesome! I think you should do an acapella version of His Eye is On The Sparrow for your next CD because that was AMAZING! I was in tears.(Pretty much like everyone else there.)I was so happy I got to meet you. I’m so thankful for everything you do. You have made such an impact on my life and faith. It was great to meet Tiff too!
Have a great week!
Lyndsay
Hey There – This is so funny! I just got home from Women of Faith – STL, and I just had to look you up online to find a good pic of your hair because I simply fell in love with it. I’ve been looking for a new style for my long hair, and I couldn’t stop talking about your hair! I’ll be going this week to get my cut – hope you don’t mind…
As for the conference – you were incredible! God’s light just shown through you in your music. I pray God will continue to bless your ministry and that of WoF. It was my first time at WoF, and I just loved it. It wasn’t the normal conference “spiritual high”, but a deeper, more mature experience. I have so many nuggets of Truth that I’m going to chew on (journal & pray about) for awhile.
Thanks for being a willing servant and sharing your gift. I was truly blessed.
hey natalie,
you have a great voice, i love your music and the video of your cutting your bangs is very funny i wish that you would a concert in rockhampton qld becaus that is where i live. i would love to go to one of your concerts. keep up the good work. love your music bianca
My worst hair disaster was about 14 years ago when I was in my mid twenties. I went to get a perm and the hairdresser thought I should get one of those spiral perms that were the rage back then. She said it would look great on me. I thought, ok, you’re the hairdresser so I’m going to trust you. Total disaster! Because my hair is fine (and straight as a board to boot), I ended up looking like a cross between Bozo the clown (though my hair wasn’t red at the time) and a poodle! Several years later I found out from another hairdresser that when you have fine hair, spiral perms are a big no-no. It only started looking good about a year later when it was practically grown out. I’ve never had any kind of perm since.
Hey Natalie…
After seeing you in person today… I would just like to say.. your bangs looked like they we’re professionally cut… even if not by a “real” pair of scissors… But that’s how women work… very resourceful… always.
You we’re a great inspiration today and I immediately came home and posted all of my photos and wrote on my blog about meeting one of my role models… now if only I can get ahold of David… one day.. one day.
take care… and you always have a fan in the Saint Louis Area~!
ha ha that is awesome i love the video that makes me laugh!! well you are awesome have a great weekend and week!!
lindsey!
Hey – great job in St. Louis! I just got back from Women of Faith Conference.
WOW.
You’ve just gotten a new fan. You’re INCREDIBLE!!
Oh, and love the hair, by the way! LOL!! Cool bangs!!
Okay…I can’t believe I’m telling this. Let me begin by saying that my mom, rest her soul, wasn’t the best of beauticians when I was a kid. I had really long, wavy hair, but she didn’t exactly know how to make it manageable, so when she would put it up in a ponytail for me to go to my dance class and other times, she would laquer it down with Vaseline. Yep, Vaseline. Not Dippity-Do, not Dep. Not even Brylcream. Vaseline. When that ponytail moved, it moved as one unit, like a stick on the back of my head. I never had trouble getting into my clothes, though…they just slipped right over my head.
Anyway…imagine my humiliation when we were paired up with a partner during dance class and my partner refused to dance with me because she said, “Mrs. Ramsey, I don’t want to dance with Debbie…her hair stinks!”
Forty-six years later, and I still remember how my leotard smelled like Woolite and my hair smelled like Joe’s Garage.
Hey Natalie! My story about cutting hair is so embarassing. I wanted to have bangs like the girl in Parent Trap. So i cut them the way she had them. I decided that i didn’t like how it looked so i cut them all the way off. Yes, all the way up til they were just little stubs. People still make fun of me for doing that, but i learned my lesson.
God Bless!!
Natalie–
You are just too funny! I just got home from Women of Faith–in St. Louis and your hair looked wonderful! As usual, you were just awesome this weekend. I am so glad you are such a big part of the conference. Your friend that is with you when you do photographs and autographs is so sweet to your crazy “groupees!” (I was the one who spoke to you at the end about your great shoes) Have a great weekend and tell your hubby “Happy Father’s Day!”
I recognize those scissors…….this is definitely getting REAL!!! Now we know all the little tricks that happen before you get on stage looking gorgeous! Love it!!! Please give my Spiffy a hug for me. First time visiting this blogsite and I really loved reading your thoughts on American Idol, but the future female vocalist is AMAZING!!! She did an awesome job just remembering the words at her age.
Thanks for shining the LIGHT where ever you go! Much aloha from Hawaii!
OMG Natalie. The last time i tried to trim my bangs they ended up way to short and choppy. My dad looked at them and about died. Your so lucky that you did a good job. I am terrified to ever do it again lol!! Take care
haha. I love this video…..I didn’t even know there was such a thing as eyebrow scissors……what?!
well, to telly you the truth, I have had an embarrassing hair cut. when I was 5 my friend and I cut our own hair….I didn’t like how long my hair was so I chopped it! Boy O Boy was it SHORT! and did I metion I gave myself bangs?….yeah, bangs up to the top of my forehead! So I don’t know if you could exactly call them bangs. lol.
