The Neti Pot

I have a virus. What bad timing. My nose is all plugged up, my throat is killing me and my body aches. Somehow, I have to get better. I am desperate to clear my nose so i can sing tomorrow night on the dove awards with wynona. then i have 4 shows in a row following that. Pray for me if you think of it. So my sister told me about this thing she saw on Regis and Kelly. Turns out it was on Oprah, too. it’s called the Nasalflo Neti Pot. What?

If you would have told me that I would be pouring a pot of liquid up one nostril of my nose and let it drain out the other side I would have said, “uh, I don’t think so.” but that just tells you how desperate I am. So I mixed up the solution, tilted my head in just the right way, and started to pour. But my nose is so blocked, that it just ran into my mouth and i felt like I was drowning. but it did finally bring a little bit of relief. I am going to try it again in a few hours, so stay tuned. The Neti Pot….check it out.  If you’ve got a cold or allergies, it is suppose to be a miracle worker.

Sniffly and sneezy,
natalie

  • Jenny

Ah, where did you get that???

  • http://blueroomworthy.com Travis Thompson

I’m sorry you’re feeling bad, but I had to tell you I laughed out loud at the thought of someone pouring something in their nose. It’s like waterboarding yourself.

Anyway, I enjoy your blog. Feel better soon!

  • Michelle

Feel better soon, Natalie! I will keep you in my prayers. I look forward to seeing you on the Doves!

And who would have thought!?! The Neti Pot? Whatever works, eh? ;)

    Have you tried Nasonex?

  • Joy

I saw that on Oprah. So sorry to hear you’re not feeling well! You’ll be in my prayers. Hope it all works out and you feel better soon!

  • Lindsay

Natalie! I wil be praying so hard for you to get better before the Dove awards- unfortunantly, I don’t get GMC so I can’t watch it, but I’ll devote my devotional tonight to praying for your health :) Feel better!

Tell us how the netti pot turned out…it seems kind of scary!

Hey Natalie! I have to admit, I am a neti girl. I started using that about 2 years ago. I love it. I did learn that using warm filtered water instead of the solution was helpful as well. the salt solution dried my throat out and was causing me to need to cough when singing. :( so, I use the solution once, then follow with only warm filtered water, if needed. With or without our Neti friend, I know that you will be awesome tonight. God’s hand is so on your life, your voice, your ministry. Whatever comes from that sweet face will be beautiful and annointed.
    Blessings!

    Hey Natalie,

So sorry you’re not feeling well, but I have heard the neti pot does work well, the idea of putting something up my nose kinda freaks me out, I’m always too chicken to do it, but I definitely have heard good things from other people about it!

In addition to that, there is a homeopathic over-the-counter remedy for signs of flu that I use every time I get what you have, which is often, and it’s called Oscillococcinum. You can get it at certain drugstores, as well as GNC and/or Vitamin World. Hope tonight’s awards go well, as well as your other performances- I’ll be cheering you on from the audience on Thursday! :) Take care!

  • Kaitlyn

Natalie, I’m so sorry you feel so bad. I’ll definitely be praying for you tonight. But just remember, whether you’re stuffy tonight or not, God can still use you to influence somebody’s life. I’m really disappointed that I couldn’t come to the the Doves this year (I’m the one who came last year all the way from Austin), but I will definitely be rootin’ you on from home! Just go out there and remember you’re singing for the Lord! Love ya!

  • Nilsse

Sounds like something i could use. I am getting sick too. It’s not fun. Hope you get better Natalie.

  • Hannah

I will most deffinetly be praying!
You are going to do amazing tonight.

Satan is really doing what he can to keep people of God from performing tonight.
Ya know Heather Payne from Point of Grace supposedly had/has
    laryngitis.

But we wont let him have his victory,IN JESUS NAME!

  • erin

i hope everything goes perfect tonight!
not sure if youre going to get this in time, but you should try breathe rights.
they are so tacky, but my brothers nose was plugged up for wrestling, so he wrestled with it, and he could breathe in no time! once he had it on for a while, he blew his nose and everything came out.
    that sounds incredibly gross haha.

bood luck though, im praying for you!

  • Marcie

We are praying for you! I’ll be seeing you in Concert in Elkhart on Sunday and I’m so excited. I hope you start feeling better.
You’re much braver than me to use the Neti Pot lol. I watched Kelly Ripa use it on the Regis and Kelly the other day and it really was funny to watch :-)

  • Hannah

    You were awesome tonight!
    oh my word.
AND Female Vocalist of the year, again!
    YAY!
i was jumping up and down when Bernie received his award.
    so exciting.

    i absolutely love you.

  • Chris

I will be in Elkhart too. Can’t wait. Natalie, your voice is mind blowing and brings me to tears on certain songs everytime. You are truly being used by the Lord and it is amazing. Didn’t get a chance to see the Dove’s last night hope you won!!!!

    Hi Natalie,
Were you by any chance at SIR in Nashville this past Saturday? 4-19? This is kind of funny. I was there for a master vocal class with Renee Grant Williams and was wandering the hall during a break. I noticed that outside of the rehearsal rooms we weren’t using there was music euipment with tags on them. As I walked by I saw your name on a tag and said (a little too exuberantly sinceI thought I was alone) “AW COOL, NATALIE GRANT!!!” When I realized I’d said this a bit loud, my face got red and I looked up to see if anybody heard me and thought I was perhaps a scizophrenic stalker kook. There you were 5 feet away with a friendly smile on your face and saying “hi” as you walked in the door to that particular studio. I remember thinking “oh gosh, if she heard me and that was her I just made a dork of myself or gave er a chuckle”. I thought about it a minute and decided that it probably was you. Of course a christian artist would smile and say hi like that instead of avoiding people. You also looked all lit up from the inside. So anyway, I was the tall chick talking to myself outside your rehearsal studio. I love your music.

yes these do work amazing!!..ahh if you dont have these take the little baby thing and mix up some salt water it works to:).

  • Bella

Hey Natalie just a tip for that stuffy nose, a wasabi covered peanut or just plain wasabi will clear your sinuses very quickly Oh and by the way I love your music and everything that you stand for you are a beacon of hope to many including me

    God bless ya sista,
    Bella

  • Jalyne

Ms Natalie, Hi, I am 15 years old and a student at Texas High School in Texarkana. We have a really big report to do worth 200 points and I chose to do mine on you. I love your music and your strong message about your faith. We are coming to Shreveport Saturday to see and hear you at Calvary Baptist Church. I have printed a bunch of your pictures and made my poster. My mom spent hours making me a dress like the black and purple one you wore when you sang “My Life is in Your Hands”. I hope I can get you to sign my poster. We love you. I’m taking your message to a public school! How cool is that?
thank you for being strong. I really admire you.

  • Sissy4

Yuck! I DID see that on Oprah. Hope you get better!

  • Stephanie

Ug! Sorry Natalie! I heard that you did a good job singing though!

  • Jerry

i totally understand the virus thing…i started on April 5th for me and I am still having the coughing attacks some a month later. The doc said it was just a strong virus. I felt so bad for people at church because we would be practicing our music and I would just start coughing in sane all of a sudden! God is good though and I am getting better! I hope you are too! Those nose things look pretty interesting! So would you do them again?

    APril :0)

  • Sara

Haha Natalie, you make me laugh!
I am so sorry to hear that you are sick! :(
My brother uses that and it works so well! I hope you get better soon though!

WORD!?! I’m a neti potter too! :) haha! I love my neti pot. I got to where I was using it like everyday, twice a day, until I started getting lazy and totally slacked off….however, I love mine! I need to get back in the habit of using it because the air quality is so poor here in good ‘ol east tennessee my voice and nostrils (ha!) are always trying to dry out on me. teehee! I seriously hope to write with you some day. My mom would trip all over herself, for reals… ;) I never even knew you were sick by your performance at the doves. You rocked the house, girlie! God is soooo great!!! Awwww… hey Natalie! :) xoxo

  • Karleigh

NO offense, but that just looks weird. LOL

  • George Tumble

It really is great. I used to have a sinus infection every other month. Since I’ve started using the neti pot I’ve only had one infection in the last year and a half.

Some people are such fans, they made a great music video about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqzUwnr2QAo
